What a fabulous, intricate, witty, and convincing read of MY DARLING CLEMENTINE! Makes me think of the series Deadwood, which also examines the drivers of civilization: love and commerce. Now what I really want to know about is that fake mermaid. Isn't it time for someone (ahem!) to make a movie about her?

Wow! You have added so much to my understanding of My Darling Clementine. John Ford really did tell the bigger story through the small and common things I hadn’t made the connection with Ethan Edwards but what you say is so true. It makes me think of Ford too. Sean Aloysius O’Feeney, who longed for legendary places so much that he made them real.
